The basement begins to fill up.
The house is complete and we have finished moving the rest of our worldly belongings. Now the ugly part begins as I survey the unpacked remains of the last incarnation of the New York Southern. In storage for almost 5 years, I don't even recognize some of the things I have! Most of the boxes that are recognizable are items I've acquired since the layout was dismantled and stored. Note all the L-Girders stacked against the wall. One advantage of L-girders is they are easily salvaged and reused. The packing and storage boxes are full of God only knows what - except that it's all train "stuff" and therefore priceless.
When this mess is straightened out, the next order of business is to get the garage unpacked (where most of the heavy tools are) and set up the sawdust making machinery (table saw, mitre saw, etc.). Then, a nice workbench and shop area needs to be built in the basement. When that is functional the benchwork phase can start.
Basement floor is finished with concrete "stain". After basic construction of layout is complete, aisleways will be carpeted. Basement construction phase is now essentially complete. As soon as the rest of the house is finished and we can get moved in a proper workshop will be installed. Then the layout design can be finalized and layout construction will begin in ernest.

Basement lighting and ceiling essentially complete.

Basement lighting being installed.

Basement ceiling grid and structured wiring panel installed.
